A native of Charleston , Jay Keenan has been active in the area’s real estate community for over 35 years. Prior to joining Palmetto Commercial Properties, Inc. as a Founding Partner, Keenan established Keenan & Hewitt Commercial Real Estate Company, and the investment firm K&H Properties with Batson L. Hewitt, CCIM. During his career he has sold, leased, developed and managed medical office buildings, general office buildings, shopping centers, acreage, historic rehabilitations, freestanding investment properties and luxury Inns.

Keenan is a 1979 recipient of the CCIM Designation and for over 25 years has been a Senior Instructor for the CCIM Institute. He has taught Commercial Investment Real Estate courses throughout the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Russia and Poland. He is a past-President of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors, Commercial Realtor of the Year in 1996 and President of the SC-CCIM Chapter in 1983. Keenan is former Chairman of the South Carolina Real Estate Commission and former Chairman of Sullivan Island ’s Board of Zoning Appeals.

Keenan is a 1967 graduate of The Citadel with a B.S. in Business Administration. He is involved with numerous community service organizations and is former President of the Charleston Breakfast Rotary Club. He attends the Roman Catholic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and is active with the Diocese of Charleston and The Citadel Development Foundation. He is married with two married children and three grandchildren.
